Known for her interpretive documentary coverage of all facets of
American culture, Lara Jo Regan has contributed regularly to such
publications as Time, Newsweek, Life and Premiere for over a decade. She
is the recipient of many of her field's highest honors, including Pictures
of the Year awards and the coveted World Press Photo of the Year. With a
background in Anthropology and fine art, her work combines painterly
beauty with social commentary, a style she has applied to everything from
impoverished Appalachians to the Hollywood elite.
Ironically, Regan later became best known for creating a cultural
phenomenon rather than covering one, as the artist behind the What is Mr.
Winkle? photo collection featured in best-selling calendars, cards and
books that transformed her otherworldly former stray pup, Mr. Winkle, into
an international cult and merchandising icon.
Both Regan's Winkle and "non-Winkle" work has been exhibited throughout
the world and is part of many collections. She has been a featured guest
on The Today Show several times, the subject of two headline segments of
Entertainment Tonight for her exclusive backstage Oscar coverage, as well
as a guest on the Rosie O'Donnell Show, the BBC and CNN, among many
others. Feature articles about her work have appeared in dozens of major
publications such as USA today and The New York Times.
